Hard Drive Destruction

Information contained on most business computer hard drives should not be shared with others. It can jeopardize your business and compromise customer information. It’s not enough to simply erase a hard drive or just throw away non-functional equipment. Skilled predators are seeking your data and are only a few clicks away from its retrieval. Can your business take that risk?

Follow these tips to make sure your business information is properly disposed.

  • The hard drives from old laptops and computers need to be properly disposed of in order to guarantee the information they contain is irretrievable.
  • Approximately 75 percent of all retired computers in the United States are sitting in storage and 15 percent are in landfills.
  • Compliance is your responsibility. Make sure your business is destroying information completely and properly.
  • Hard drive destruction should be handled by a certified NAID (National Association for Information Destruction) member organization.
  • Make sure you receive signed and dated documentation of your hard drive disposal.
