So how does secure shredding work?
1) C.O.P.S.’s on-site truck will arrive at your facility. Our background-screened Service Technician will do all the work. We’ll empty your boxes into our locking service bin and wheel the materials to our truck right in your parking lot.
2) From this point, the process is automated; we unlock the bin and attach it to a lift on the side of our shred truck.
3) Using this automated, no-touch system, our truck then lifts the bin through an external chute and tips the material into the shredder housed inside the truck. A closed-circuit television monitor is also available to allow clients the opportunity to witness the shredding process.
4) The documents are shredded into small particles (not strips) and compacted into the holding compartment in the back of our secure trucks. Materials are not only shredded and compacted; they’re intermingled with particles from all documents collected throughout the day.
Where does it go?
At the end of the day, the C.O.P.S. trucks return to our parent company’s recycling center, Midwest Fiber, where shredded particles are off-loaded into bunkers to be baled. Each full truck returns daily with up to 5 tons of shredded material. The bales of shredded paper are then shipped to paper mills, where the product is pulped into new paper products. Commercial hand towels and tissues are often the end product, while some paper is recycled back into various office paper products.
